The 2019 Finn Gold Cup was held in Melbourne, Australia at the Royal Brighton Yacht Club. After a week is competitive and close racing, Josh Junior took the first ever Finn world title for New Zealand. Nicholas Heiner, from The Netherlands took silver, while the defending champion, Zsombor Berecz from Hungary, took bronze. The event was a key indication of form ahead of the coming seventh months before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The 2019 Finn Gold Cup began in style with the 60-boat fleet getting two races in on day one in Melbourne, Australia. Andy Maloney (5, 1) and Josh Junior (1, 5) showed they are a force to be reckoned with sitting in first and second respectively at the end of day one. Nenad Bugarin follows in third place a

It was the second day of racing on Port Phillip Bay 🇦🇺In today’s highlights video we caught up with Nils Theuninck, Giles Scott and Nicholas Heiner after a long day on the water.

 

Unfortunately with the temperatures soaring over 40ºC and not a breath of wind, racing was cancelled today. We caught up with Alex Kokumai (JPN) and Rockal Evans (BER) where we got to see first hand a Finn sailors diet 😂

Hot weather and hot racing out on Port Phillip for the penultimate day of the 2019 Finn Gold Cup. Temperatures were up around 44ºC and a dusty haze surrounded the race course.
