90 sm beträgt der Querabstand der Guyot zur Biotherm, deren Kurslinie eine gewisse Nervosität ausstrahlt. Es ist leichtsinnig, sich so weit östlich zu positionieren wie die Guyot, da die Crews der weiter westlich segelnden Schiffe möglicherweise mit einem breiten Grinsen im Gesicht vorbeiziehen werden.
200 sm westlich der Guyot prescht die Malizia mit doppelter Geschwindigkeit heran. Wird der Leichtsinn der Guyot-Crew jetzt bestraft ? Oder ist es die Unerfahrenheit unserer Jollensegler, die die Guyot in diese „gefährliche“ Lage brachte ?
Die Zuckervorräte an Bord der Guyot gehen zur Neige, da Phillip laut Robert ein Sugar-Monster sei. Noch scheint die Stimmung an Bord der Guyot aber gut zu sein.

Endlich parkt auch die Malizia, was uns nicht weiter tangiert, da ja keine einziges deutsches Crewmitglied an Bord ist. Drücken wir daher lieber Robert und Phillip auf der Guyot die Daumen, die Doldrums als 1. Schiff zu überwinden.

« We really enjoyed sailing downwind in the trades. With jibing on the big shifts we tried to push south as much as we can, not taking too much risk compared to the fleet, which invested more in the west.Yesterday evening we entered the doldrums being the most easterly boat. We changed from the A2 to J0 and managed some rain clouds and randomly drifts in the night.
There is a little swell and when the breeze stops completely the slamming of the sails is annoying. Now we are making good progress with 5 knots in a good direction. The heat down in the boat and on our black deck is heavy. The crew is well. We are working the boat south with precise trimming. Let’s see how many days it will take us to cross. » – Robert Stanjek
A2 ist der grosse Spi, den Malizia und wohl auch Holzim nicht an Bord haben. Er ermöglichtete es Guyot und Biotherm vorm Wind tiefer zu segeln.
