Vendée Globe 2024 – day 30 – Sebastien Simon: Starbord Foil broken

11:00 – Boris 10.  Er führt jetzt die Damengruppe an 🙂

As Boris enters his 5th week at sea, he’s treating himself to a pancake brunch, carefully preparing it in the captain’s kitchen. He’ll enjoy the warm meal inside, escaping the thick fog and grey sky of the Southern Ocean. Sailing close behind, Samantha Davies and Clarisse Crémer are never far off, and Boris has to be cautious—the tempting aroma of his pancakes could draw them in. The only sailor he wouldn’t mind luring with a pancake is Justine Mettraux, currently ahead of him.

Yoann Richomme on PAPREC ARKÉA has had the highest average speed over the past 24 hours in the Vendée Globe at 21.86 knots and is sensing his moment of opportunity.

Leader Charlie Dalin on MACIF Santé Prévoyance has slowed considerably on the final approach to the longitude of Cape Leeuwin, while second placed Sébastien Simon on Groupe Dubreuil is hamstrung by his broken starboard foil.

With a complex weather picture ahead, will Richomme use this moment to make his move? As promised in the video, the full rankings can be found at https://www.vendeeglobe.org/en/ranking
