00:00 – Vendee New York – Boris verhungert im Norden. Er hat den Querabstand zu Nico und Charlie mit ca. 30 sm viel zu gross werden lassen. Ein dummer Fehler, es den Konkurrenten im Süden zu ermöglichen, mit mehr Wind vorbeizuziehen. Wie gewonnen, so zerronnen könnte man sagen.
Welcher Kurs langfristig der günstigere ist, ist derzeit noch offen, denn dazu sind die Wettervorhersagen des Trackers zu ungenau und instabil.
Im Süden versucht übrigens Benjamin Dutreux sein Glück mit einem Extremschlag. Dass er damit Erfolg haben wird, ist eher unwahrscheinlich.
Boris sieht müde aus. Hat er sich an der Spitze des Feldes zu sehr verausgabt ?

Erste Front nähert sich!Bald 48 Stunden auf See verbracht und Charlie hat trotz wenig Wind einen intensiven Start ins Rennen erlebt! Aktuell auf Platz 2 kämpft er an der Spitze des Trupps. Das launische Wetter macht es ihm schwer: Der sehr wechselhafte Wind und die Nähe zu den Konkurrenten lassen ihm wenig Zeit zum Ausruhen. 14:00 – Charlie Dalin führt vor Nicolas Lunven. Boris ist aufgrund seines Alleinganges auf Platz 3 zurückgefallen.
Samantha Davies im roten Boot und vor allem Benjamin Dutreux haben sich mit den Extremschlägen im Süden verkalkuliert und sind zurückgefallen. Clarisse gelang es dagegen sich durch einen glücklichen Move von 11. auf 7. zu verbessern. Sie liegt mit L’occitane En Provence jetzt vor allen anderen Damen.
NORTH OR SOUTH?
“There are no big surprises when you look at the tracking this morning. The sailors are dealing with a very weak and very changeable wind, both in strength and direction. It likely that they see a few small squalls. They started gybing a few hours ago with the objective of getting through this bubble as quickly as possible,” summarises Hubert Lemonnier, the Race Director of this New York Vendée – Les Sables d’Olonne.
For example Herrmann who led yesterday has slowed this morning and was making just five knots to Dalin’s 7.5 though he was moving back north. Britain’s Sam Davies (Initiatives Coeur) is furthest south looking at getting underneath the system along with Sébastien Simon (Groupe Dubreuil) and perhaps Transat CIC winner Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa).
“It is going to be about picking a time to gybe and cross this system and everyone is going to have to do that. They are looking for the narrowest part of the front and the extension of this low pressure which is quite wide, it won’t be so sudden because it is quite an old front and after they gybe they might have to point away from the finish for a while, I think it is a waiting game. But this might decide quite a lot.” Explained Will Harris of Team Malizia last night.
After a brutally disappointing outward Transat when she had to stop in the Azores to make repairs, Clarisse Crémer is having a strong race so far on L’Occitaine en Provence lying in tenth place, just behind the lead group which contains Switzerland’s Justine Mettraux (Teamwork-Team SNEF) in eighth. https://www.newyorkvendee.org/en/article/not-normal

20:00 – Boris hat dazugelernt und lässt Charlie und Nico nicht mehr allein 🙂 Der Tracker sieht ihn sogar auf Platz 1. Das Damen-Duett (Clarisse, Justine) freut sich ebenso wie Sebastien Simon bereits über frischen Wind, liegt aber knapp 100 sm hinter der Spitzengruppe.
